Black Floating Glass Shelf Kit 6" x 18" - Modern Rectangle Wall Mounted Glass Shelves for Bathroom, Kitchen & Living Room Decor

It took a lot of effort to get her up (the wall anchors kept slipping out of my drywall when I applied weight— eventually fixed it with gorilla glue), but she’s beautiful!Two pieces of advice:- check for wall studs BEFORE you drill (learned the hard way!)- maybe use a slightly smaller drill bit than they recommend, so the anchors don’t slip outI was so happy to find a shelf that would fit exactly into the space that I wanted. I downgraded to 4 stars to install due to the lip along my wall and the screw at the bottom of the hardware. I had 1/4" to finagle the screw, slide the bottom brace into the track while screwing in the top portion of the hardware. If I had positioned it higher it would have been fine, but I wanted the shelf to be level with the sink.I bought the white shelf. I was surprised to see that it has a green sheen to it with just a white coating on one side. I was expecting a solid white piece of glass. It ended up being scratched when I opened the box. I filled it in with some white paint and ended up covering the glass underside with a thin layer of cellophane before putting the braces up to prevent it from future nicks. I still really liked it and didn't want to return. It was just a little different than I had expected.I also should have thought about where to place the brackets in terms of what items I would be placing in order for them to obstruct as little as possible. I lucked out because the bins fit exactly into the spaces between the brackets and at the ends.All in all, I'm very happy with my shelf. The glass is very thick and feels sturdy, it came with 2 extra screws, and if it hadn't been for my odd placement it would have been very easy to put together.I love the black glass of this shelf as it fades into the black tile background quite well. The 30" fit well in the 30" opening above the sink with around 1/8" gap left on each side. It does darken the sink area up a bit but is worth it for the overall look. The shipping was quite quick from the seller and the glass was well packaged with no problems or chips. I will note that the glass is not actually black, it has a paint of some type applied to the bottom. I did not have any problems with it scratching when I installed it. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the brackets sent with the shelf are not so great. One was perfect but the other was slightly angled on the top portion so it did not lay flat against the glass. This made it easy to slide the shelf around, which I did not want. I tried to angle the bracket top down slightly but the metal broke completely off. I ended up buying different brackets on Amazon (KES HSB302A-2-P2 Solid Metal Adjustable Wood/Glass Shelf Bracket Wall Mount - they were around $10) that were perfect. They gripped the glass nicely, the shelf is completely level and it does not move or slide. Overall, this shelf is definitely worth the purchase even with the need to get different brackets.Took less than 30 minutes to install.I would have given this 5 stars if not for the extremely poor hardware. The piece of glass is perfect though. It's probably just about the thickest piece of glass I've ever seen, it's very nice. However, the screws and anchors are terrible and the brackets are low quality. My husband said that I'm very lucky there were two studs placed exactly where we needed them, to put the shelf where we wanted it. Hubby says he would not have installed this into just drywall. We used different screws and anchors than what's included, with that done the shelf is now unbelievably sturdy and strong. Don't even think about installing this in drywall or your shelf will be on the floor. And I'd recommend getting a set of quality screws and anchors, the brackets are okay if you get better screws and anchors. Make sure you have a spot picked out with properly spaced studs (the directions say the brackets should be no more than 16" apart). You'll prob regret it if you install this into just drywall. I purchased the 8x30 inch shelf. I'm glad I went with that size, as any bigger would have been too big for my needs. I used a large piece of styrofoam to cut out different sizes, to see what would work for me. I'm sure cardboard would work too. It's kind of hard to tell just using a tape measure. I do love this shelf and it looks great above my glass table in my studio/office.Used inside the shower for shower products.Bought 2 shelves. Very well packaged - they must have had some warranty claims for broken glass and updated their packaging. The kit included wall anchors, but did not give a drill size to use with the wall anchors. I think I used a 3/8", which is a little bigger than a lot of do-it-yourselfers have. In both kits, one of the two bracket was cross-threaded, so the clamp didn't sit square to the base. I went ahead and mounted it. I don't have anything super heavy on the shelf. The rubbery pads seemed to accommodate some of the misalignment, but it's definitely not even pressure across the thickness of the pad. They don't provide guidelines on how much to tighten the screws, either. I got it "firm" plus a quarter turn. I'm going to have to remember to re-tighten the screws in a few weeks to make sure the threads in the mis-aligned brackets haven't stretched and the pads haven't relaxed.Does it look good? Yes.Would I buy it again? I'd probably look for something else. Though I feel like I'd be making the same gamble.Fits perfectGreat fit and excellent quality.Nice quality shelf. I gave it a 5 but my only complaint is the low quality screws that come with it. Stripped a couple of them.
