Rio Celeste translates to light blue river. Local legend has it that after God was finished painting the sky, he washed his paintbrushes in the river turning in the brilliant blue that fascinates us today. What is Frit? Technically, Frit is the mixture of silica and fluxes which is fused at high temperature to make glass. More practically, for our purposes, frit is very small pieces of glass. Iridized Glass Iridescent glass is unique and fascinating because the surfaces change color as the angle of light changes. Iridescent glass is essential for creating magnificent pieces of art that will stand out from the rest. Crystal Clear Glass The final component of my Snowflakes is crystal clear glass frit. Creation Process: My Snowflakes are created by custom mixing glass and firing them in a kiln at 1200-1450 degrees F. They are slowly cooled for durability and strength. Due to the handmade process, each product will have slight variations in size, glass tint/color and texture. These slight imperfections are what makes them unique and special. Due to this process, each snowflake is guaranteed to be special and all ornament sizes are approximate. The size quoted is the minimum size, and a normal variation of 1/4 inch (l) can be expected.
